Extended-release technology is a mechanism for gently delivering melatonin in stages, so you can fall asleep, stay asleep and wake up refreshed.  The melatonin in SleepTrim is delivered in two stages; half of the amount is released immediately and the microencapsulated amount is released slowly (extended release).
